Everyone is familiar with Verizon. They’re a huge telecommunications company that employs more than 160,000 people. What Hoosier Veterans may not be aware of is that Verizon has a long track record of supporting the U.S. Military and Veterans. For starters, they offer a 15% discount to all Active, National Guard and Veteran service plans, and 25% off all accessories. More importantly, Verizon employs more than 4000 Veterans, is committed to hiring even more, and has an internal apparatus just for military vets to help you move up within the company.

That program is called the Verizon Military Talent Network. In the Midwest, the program is headed by Rodney Greenwood, a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. The sole purpose of his team is to seek out talented National Guardsmen, Veterans, transitioning service members, and their spouses to assist them with potential employment opportunities with Verizon. The Military Recruiting Team is made up of Veterans from all branches of service and a military spouse. They’ve been through the military transition process, and really understand the unique challenges we face.

Next, review the Verizon Career Website and search for job opportunities using the Military Skills Matcher and your location. If you find a job opportunity that you feel qualified for, review the entire job description and ensure your resume is tailored to reflect the qualifications if you have them. It’s important to include those key “buzz words” and to address all of the required qualifications.
