2017 NGAI Update from the Executive Director

 In Association, News, Tradition

NGAI Members and Friends,

While the calendar still says “Winter,” we’ve had some great teasing with hints of Spring. With each Spring our attention turns to our Annual Conference, Exhibition and Professional Development Symposium. We have a great lineup of leaders and Corporate Partners looking forward to visiting with our members and families.

While the focus may be on French Lick, our Statehouse team continues to closely monitor the developments in the Indiana General Assembly. Coming off a great victory with Hoosier Veteran legislation in 2016, the landscape changed significantly with Governor Pence’s selection as Vice President and the election of Governor Eric Holcomb.

Governor Holcomb is a strong advocate for exempting retired military pay from Indiana state income taxes and we strongly back him in his efforts. Although there is still much work to do, it looks promising to get some incremental income tax relief for all military pay over the next two years! Stay tuned for the second part of the 2017 session.

2017 NGAIF Educational Grant Program:
We are just two weeks out from the deadline for the NGAI Educational Grant application, 15 March 2017. If you or a family member could use some well-deserved financial assistance, take some time to apply for our Educational Grant. The application is posted on our website at https://www.ngai.net/ed-grant.

NGAI Board of Director Elections:
The ballot of candidates for the NGAI Board of Directors is posted on the NGAI website, https://www.ngai.net/vote. Voting can be completed on line or by mail. Voting will close promptly at 1000, Saturday 22 April, at our Annual Meeting in French Lick. Please review the ballot details closely then complete the survey for your online vote.

This year’s theme will be the continued celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the 38th ID Cyclones. Governor and Mrs. Eric Holcomb are our special invited guests this year. Please register online if at all possible.
